Baroque Week. Patron: Trevor Pinnock CBE Artistic Director: Theresa Caudle

Cost

All applications received by 5pm on Monday 1st December 2025 will have an equal chance of acceptance - there is no advantage gained by applying earlier. Later applications for any remaining places on the course will be considered in order of receipt.  We may have to make selections on the basis of the information on your application form and/or the balance of instruments or voices, and if necessary lots will be drawn to allocate places and/or ensuite bedrooms. Some places may need to be reserved for particular instruments/voices even if the course is otherwise full. There are a limited number of en-suite bedrooms: you can state on the application form if an en-suite is preferred, or if one is essential for medical reasons. A wheelchair-accessible room with wetroom is also available.

Please complete an application form (available below) even if you have attended before, so that you can update your preferences or any other information.  We will request a deposit of £100 per person to secure your place as soon as we confirm that you have been accepted. The balance will be due by 1st June. Please pay by bank transfer or internet banking to account number 65771015 (Baroque Week R/C 1161774), sort code 08-92-99, or send a cheque payable to Baroque Week. For international payments the IBAN is GB94 CPBK 089299 65771015 and the SWIFT/BIC is CPBK GB22. Alternatively you can use PayPal to pay by card, although there will be a small additional charge to cover their fees - please contact us for details.

The deposit is non-refundable unless we are unable to offer you a place on the course.  If you have to withdraw before 1st June we will refund any additional fees you have already paid.   If you withdraw between 1st June and 26th July we will give a refund (apart from the deposit) only if we are able to replace you with a suitable alternative participant.  After this date we are unable to make refunds in any circumstances, so we strongly recommend that you take out your own insurance.

Despite increases in costs, we have avoided raising the course fees more than necessary. Consequently, your fee now covers just the basic costs of board, accommodation, tutors’ remuneration, and administration. Separately and in addition, we ask participants (all those who feel able) to make a further voluntary contribution of at least £50 towards the cost of up to ten bursaries and the hire of extra keyboard instruments. Splitting this element helps us to continue to offer places to the bursary students who add so much to Baroque Week and, importantly, if you are a UK taxpayer this enables us to claim further substantial Gift Aid support from the government. Making a donation also qualifies you for Membership of the Baroque Week charity until the following 30th September, unless you tell us that you do NOT wish to be a Member.

It may be possible to attend for part of the week — please contact us to discuss this. However you may not gain the benefit of taking full part in the course; also the balance of instruments for the whole week needs to be taken into consideration when we allocate places. The on-site bedrooms are usually allocated to those attending for the whole week, so you would probably need to find a local B&B.

Please note that Baroque Week is a course for adults - you must be over 18 years old on the start date of the course.

Covid policy

At the 2024 course we believe two people brought Covid to the course, and this caused at least 19 other people to test positive either during or immediately after the course, with varying consequences. In order to minimise the risk of bringing Covid to the course we ask that you take a lateral flow test before coming and we ask you not to attend if you have a positive test before travelling.

Instrumentalists who also wish to do some solo/one-to-a-part singing in tutor-led sessions should use the singers’ form; but other instrumentalists can ask to sing in a chamber choir (two- to four-to-a-part) in some sessions; and everyone is encouraged to join in the evening choir.
